This definition of Cosen, or Cozen, is based on The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary. This entry must be reread. Cozen is supposed to come from the Italian word for a horse dealer, cozzone. Bargaining, as in the actual barter of horses, usually involved negotiations and compromises – and in fact, the term haggling came to suggest wise negotiation. He seems to assume that all these negotiations were not completely on the rise.
